Sleep on the farm, breakfast on the local harvest.
Three rooms in an old farmhouse near Voorbeeldstad. Each morning a table laden with regional produce, then a borrowed bicycle and the polder all to yourself.
De Zwaluw is an old farmhouse in the heart of the countryside. Where hay once lay and cows once stood, you now sleep beneath the same beams, in one of three rooms that each carry their own history.
In the morning the table is laid with whatever the surroundings have to offer: bread, cheese, eggs and jam from makers nearby. No one is in a hurry, and the coffee stays warm for as long as you care to linger.
Afterwards the bicycles wait by the barn door. The quiet lanes begin at the gate, winding past canals and meadows, and in the evening it is so still that you can hear the swallows beneath the eaves.
Every morning at the large communal table.
For those who wish to explore the polder.
In the yard, beside the barn.
For those who still need to get online now and then.
Each room was once something else: a threshing floor, a hayloft, a stable. Choose the place that suits the shape of your journey.
